Dance 1 - 6th Grade Dance
The Dance 1 curriculum focuses the study of the Elements of Dance, Ballet, Jazz, Hip hop, Contemporary/Modern, and Social Dance. Students will learn basic skills and techniques to begin their dance education as well as dance history and theory. Students are required to participate the spring dance production. Dance is offered as a Physical Education credit in middle school, so we will also emphasize overall health and fitness for each dancer. Dancers in dance 1 will be able to:

Dance 2 - Yearlong or Semester long

The curriculum will focus on Ballet, Jazz, Hip hop, Contemporary/Modern, and Choreography/Dance Production with a required d spring performance.
Combining objectives of Dance 1 along with:

Dance Company - Yearlong; Audition Required
7th/8th grade only by audition offered as a year-long class; the curriculum will focus on Choreography/Dance Production with an emphasis on performance qualities. Company will have numerous opportunities to perform throughout the school year which will include, but are not limited to, pep rallies, Fine Arts Academy Veterans Day Assembly, Macy's Winter Showcase, and the CMS Spring Show to name a few.

- Additional artistic exploration and depth
- Emphasis on strong work ethic, empathy, self-awareness, and self-expression, respect, communication, leadership an teamwork, listening skills, problem-solving and more.
- Exploring various dance styles a through master classes and visiting teachers
- Performance opportunities through school and out in the community
